2nd Six Weeks: We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do!

English I and II (9th and 10th Grade) will continue to read and discuss short fiction stories. Student will also be completing their first extended article review which is due October 24th.

Greetings NIAA Parents,

                                     ~~~
An extended article review involves students choosing an article of considerable length (at least 5 pages or more) and writing a review of that article. I have encouraged students to explore topics that interest them. So far I have receive ideas ranging from health science, sports medicine to music.
The specific requirements for this assignment can be found on my CLASSJUMP.
                                       ~~~
 Student will also have 4 reading log homework assignments  to complete this six weeks. I appreciate all of the newspaper donations. Keep them coming!

FYI:
Reading logs serve three purposes:
1.  Our students are up to date on current events
2. They are researching, skimming and reading, which sharpens their reading comprehension levels
3. They are responding, reviewing and writing about the information they locate

Here's to a Great Start!

Book Opening and Closing Animated Clipart

Greetings NIAA Parents,

Welcome to another fabulous year of learning. For the 2014-2015 school year I will instruct/teach/facilitate 9th and 10th grade English Language Arts (ELA).

To start off the school year right, we are spending time, reviewing and learning the process of completing my homework assignments, honing our reading strategies and rebuilding and flexing our writing muscles.

Please make sure your student has sign up for www.Classjump.com this website is where I will post necessary documents as well as the class calendar for upcoming homework, including weekly reading logs, bi-weekly article reviews, essay and exam due date reminders, etc.

Students will need a 3 ring binder or dedicated multiple subject spiral notebook for my class and they should have their school issued planner with them each day as we will update it with information weekly.

My blog updates vary from weekly to bi-weekly, I have also added a page For Parents Only to share articles related to school/parent partnerships. Please feel free to share with me any articles you think other parents may enjoy reading.
