The First Full Week at NIAA

Greetings Newman Parents,

This is the first full week and we are full steam ahead!
This week we will discuss and better understand literary genres and finally begin class discussions about our summer reading novels.
Students who didn't get a chance to read or completely read the assignment book for the summer will be encouraged to read as much as possible during the week or so that we discuss in its entirety.
7th grade  - Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
8th grade - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis
10th grade - Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

Our final phase  of summer reading will be to compose an essay based on character, plot, setting or theme, whichever the students connected with the most.
FYI: I also have the audio versions of the Summer Reading novels on my blog. Click here to view.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of reading, writing and learning with my students. Please contact me with any questions you may have at plsndrs721@gmail.com
Have a great week!Miss Sanders
