Hello Newman Parents!
This is a busy week for my ELA
classes!
It’s 
10th grade will begin
reading the fiction novella, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Pre-AP 10th grade will
continue to explore the realistic fiction of Dostoevtsky, CS Lewis and Kafka.
8th grade will delve into
the novella, The Pearl by John Steinbeck and discover the questions of wealth vs.,
poor and good vs. evil.
7th grade will be challenged
with three great American short stories: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip
Van Winkle by Washington Irving and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras
County by Mark Twain.
As we wind down the first 3 weeks of
the 2nd 6 weeks, we will once
again flex our writing muscle by drafting out 2nd major essay.
Finally, thank you so much parents who were able to bring students out for College Night. It was a great success and hopefully even bigger and better next year!
