INFORMATION ABOUT 10TH GRADE TRIP TO SOUTH PADRES ISLAND
Please Note:
A Message from Mrs. Shields
Students will be traveling May 25th-28th
The kids will have the opportunity to play on the beach, but no deeper than knee deep in the water. If you DO NOT want your child in the water, please let me know.
FUNDRAISING
We had hoped to raise enough funds to cover all of the cost of meals, but that just didn’t happen. I know for some this will not be a problem, but for other's it might present a financial hardship. In an effort to offset the cost for those families, we are hosting a GARAGE SALE
SATURDAY & SUNDAY, this weekend. I am requesting donations to the sale, ALL PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE TRIP, anything not sold will be donated to MISSION ARLINGTON.
Donations can be left at:
6704 High Country Trail
Arlington, TX 76016
Friday before 2:30pm or after 4:00pm
We will not have a parent meeting before the trip, so please email me with any questions and I will respond to the group as a whole. If you’re wondering about something, someone else is too.
Please contact me with any questions,
Susan Shields, Parent Volunteer Trip Coordinator

Final 5th Six Weeks - Exams, Projects due
This is finals week at Newman and ELA students will be taking exams covering non-fiction and poetry.
Also, students are to assemble Poetry Portfolios - they have been given a rubric to guide them through the process plus a PDF of the rubric has been uploaded to CANVAS under "Assignments"
Students will also have a 5th Six Weeks Binder check. Last week I passed out ELA class progress reports and students may use those to assemble their work for the binder check.
Both the Poetry Portfolio and Binder Check at for a test grade and may be turned in by Friday (which is also early release 1230pm), as grades have to be turned in by teachers on Monday.
Have a great week!
